Monologue Description: “Making Fun” is about getting teased at school because of your ethnicity.
Character Description: Pedro talks to his Grandpa about being bullied in school.
MB TIP: This monologue deals with the issue of race. No mater what nationality you are, there has been some form of racial slur against it. This monologues covers that and young Pedro wants to be liked even though he is Mexican.

PEDRO:
Just because I’m Mexican the other kids at school make fun of me. I just want to be liked. They call me names like wet back. They call my sister Pocahontas and that is why I punched them out. Today, I got into a fistfight with all the boys making fun of me and my sister. That’s why I have a black eye now.
I want to go to another school. I am not happy here. I don’t want to keep going through this. Everyday when we walk home, they pick on us.

I can relate to this. I was born in the USA, but because I am Chicano and my parents are Mexican, I can relate to Pedro.
