Character: BOB
Description: Bob talks about the feeling he gets knowing he is a firemen.
Gender: Male
Age: 35
I love these guys. They are truly my brothers. When we call one another a brother, it’s for real. We are willing to die for one another. I don’t think human beings can get any closer, when they are willing to die for each-other. That’s what it’s all about, saving lives.
I became a fireman because the idea of being one gave me a sense of belonging to something bigger than myself. This may sound weird but, I feel that God gave me this as a calling, a sense of purpose in my life. I grew up being a wild man, I always had a rush for excitement, a rush for the extreme, but it’s not why I’m doing what I’m doing now. Sure, I get the thrills but it’s for different reasons.
I first realized I wanted to be a firemen when I was a kid and my class went on a school trip to a firehouse company. I remember the firemen doing all of these cool slides down the pole with no hands and upside down. It was amazing. They became my idols and whenever I saw a firetruck, I always had the urge to follow it on my bike.
I’m proud to do what I do. It calms my soul and I have no regrets, even if one day I lose my life.
