“Grandma’s Will” (drama) 2 minutes

Character: STELLA
Description:  Stella talks to her boyfriend about her ill Grandmother.
Gender: Female
Age:  22

My grandmother almost passed away a few months ago.  It was an extremely difficult thing to deal with.  More so, not only because I almost lost my grandma but also because my own mother was suffering over the whole ordeal.  It was a tough one.  I received a phone call from my mother, when my grandmother was actually dying.  My mother called me frantically and told me that the doctors would have to put an oxygen tube down my grandmothers chest in order to keep her alive and that she told my mother that if that ever happened, that she would rather die and not to let the doctors do that to her.  So, my mother asked me what to do and I told her to save her life.  My mother gave the doctors the go ahead and my grandmother is still here.

What concerns me most is that my grandmother suffers.  She has emphyesma and the oxygen flowing through her lungs is slowly closing on her.  It’s a slow process until death.  She’s only breathing on a quarter of her lung and she needs to wear an oxygen tank twenty-four seven.

So now, I do everything I can for her.  I take her out for lunch every few weeks.  I go to the store with her, I rake her leaves, I buy her her favorite novels and discuss books with her and her favorite writers.  I make her laugh as much as I can and I only talk about the good things going on in my life.  I constantly let her know how loved and appreciated she is and how important she is to my life and to the family.

I want my grandmother to have a strong reason to live and I want it to be stronger than the pain she suffers daily in her life.  As long as I’m alive, I make sure my grandma is okay, to the best of her ability.
