Monologue Description: “Dad, Please” is a monologue about a father and daughter communicating better.
Character Description: Tina is fed up with her fathers ways. For once, she wishes he would truly listen to her needs, without pushing his own worldy views on her all the time. This is Tinas attempt at trying to make her father understand.
TINA:
You think you know it all. You know nothing. Nothing! You are so opinionated and you don’t leave room for any other opinion whatsoever. It’s your way or no way and that’s bullshit. You close yourself to being open minded and it stings your soul. How do you expect to grow as a human being, when you are constantly stubborn in your way of thinking?
I’m not saying to change your mind with things. All I’m saying is that for once in your life, you should try and leave some room to hear what someone else has to say. Maybe then you will gain an even deeper perspective on life.
You always enforce your opinions on me and it’s not right. I won’t stand for it anymore Dad. I respect your opinions about things and I know you are looking out for me but damn it, YOU ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT.
Stop thinking about things in such a suffocating manner. It’s not healthy for so many reasons. You do more damage to yourself by walking around, thinking you are right. It’s time to let the giant ego go and get ahold of what really matters. Don’t worry about what’s right for you because what’s right for you can very damn well be wrong for somebody else. And that somebody else is me Dad. That somebody else is ME.
