Monologue Description: “Bad Zone” is about a brother trying to help his sisters happiness.

Character Description: James talks to his sister, whom he loves dearly, about why she has been so miserable in her life lately. James want to help his sister get out of her depression.

JAMES:

All you do is complain. I have never met anyone who complains as much as you do. There must be a disease for complaining as much as you do. “Pauly, did you throw out the trash? Pauly, did you get the car washed? Pauly, my neck hurts. Pauly this and Pauly that! Leave the guy alone. Can’t you give your hubby some space?

Why not be happy about something for once? Just once, one time in your life, be grateful for the things you have. You have a great family, a great job, you are healthy, young and beautiful. What more do you want??? Would it kill you to put a smile on your face? I never met anyone as miserable as you. You torture your husband. You made him your gopher. Poor guy. If it was me, I’d leave your ass. I would never take the abuse you give that man.

You were never like this Lorraine. What’s going on? What happened to the spark I used to see in your eyes? You always had the most bright brown eyes. Now when I look into them, they are dimmed. WHY? Did something happen? Are you bored with your great life? Thousands, if not millions of people would trade shoes with you gladly. Seriously, what is it? I want you to talk to me because I think you are headed into a bad zone and I want you to be happy. That’s all I want for my sister. How can I help you sis?
