“Grandma” (drama) 1-2-3 Minutes

Monologue Description: “Grandma” is about a sick grandmother who is loved dearly by her grandson.

Character Description: Christopher talks to his best friend Mike about his grnadmothers well being.

CHRISTOPHER:

I can’t stop thinking about my grandmother. As much as I would like to talk about something else. I can’t stop thinking about her being in the hospital, fighting for her life. She’s been in and out of the hospital for the past month and has been in her hospital bed for two weeks straight. She suffers from emphesema. She has COPD and was brought into the hospital due to her having neumonia.

The other day I walked in on her as she was dying. My mother was at her side holding her hand. The doctors decided to make the fourth attempt at trying to remove the tube that was keeping her alive.

What pisses me off is that all of her vital signs are great. She is strong everywhere else, except for her lungs. When they take her off the uncubator, her heart rate speeds up to like 210 and she suffers from panic attacks. Her lungs aren’t strong enough on their own.

I went over to my mother and hugged and kissed her. I took my grandmothers hand and told her I loved her. Then my mother suddenly faints and I caught her with one hand while I was holding my grandmother with my other hand. For the life of me, I could not let go of either one of them. It was horrible.

FINALLY, doctors and nurses came rushing in and helped me.My mother was okay after we got her to sit and gave her water. My grandmother was put back on the tube and now has decided to have an operation…a tracheotomy. I’m on my way to the hospital now…
