“Trade-Off” (serio-comedy) 1-2 Minutes

Monologue Description:“Trade-Off” is about wanting something and losing something in return.

Character Description:Sally talks to her good friend at the nail salon, while she gets her nails done. She begins to explain the important of looking good for your man and any cost.

SALLY:

“Look good. You gotta look good…” This is what he tells me. “Baby, I love when you take care of yourself.” And then he bitches about the bill.

It costs money to look good. Women spend more money than men. Women have maintenance issues. Let’s face it. We do. We need make-up, we get our nails done, hair done, go for tans, go to the gym, we go shopping for pretty much everything under the sun that’s not nailed down. This is what we do in order to “look good” for our man.

Men don’t have to worry about this sort of thing. Right? Come on, you don’t see men going out to get their nails done. Unles, hmmm, that’s not true, scratch that because some men are metrosexuals and they often go to get pedicures and stuff. Oh and men in the mafia, mafia men like to have smooth and shiny nails. It’s true. My brother in law was a “you know what” and he always had polished clear nails.Back to my point though. If our men want us to look good, than they shouldn’t complain about the bill. There’s always a trade off.
