“Choose Them Better” (drama) 1 Minute

Monologue Description:“Choose Them better’ is about having a better system set for hiring new officers of the law.

Character Description: Phyllis talks to her best friend about her feeling regarding improperly hired police officers.

PHYLLIS:

Did you hear the latest from our lovely cop system in New York? Now, this doesn’t refer to all cops mind you but one cop does reflect on the whole system. A cop of two years shot his girlfriend in the head, killing her. A beautifull young woman, in her twenties. Her life, gone. All because of this man.

I believe that a better person evalutaion should go into effect. All people who desire to be an officer of the law must undergo HEAVY, EXTREME, phychological evalutation BEFORE maintaining possession of a firearm. It’s almost as if anyone can walk in and become a cop these days in order to make “the numbers” efficient.

I don’t think enough is done in this regard. I also think that the standards for what is acceptable to be a cop and what isn’t in relation to “fitness” should also be STRONGLY evaluated. There certainly won’t be any unfit cop capable of apprehending a wrong doer of crime if they are on the run. It’s stupid and it’s ridiculous and more must be done in order to protect the lives of our citizens, which is what a police officers first responsibility must be.
