“Scare Of My Life” (drama) 2 Minutes

Monologue Description: “Scare Of My Life” is about a mother not finding her sons activity humorous by any means.

Character Description: In this monologue, Melanie talks to her best friend about how she thinks her son is a dangerous driver.

MELANIE:

There’s no getting through to that kid. Stubborn little bastard. I talk and talk and talk and I get no where with Will. What do I have to do? Do I have to put a gun to his head? Obviously I’m not serious when I say that but I feel like that would be the only way to get through to him.

He’s too wild. Drives his car like a maniac. He peels off wherever he goes. This kid must hold the record for skid marks. He goes through four new pairs of tires a month. Does that make sense?
He does it cause he thinks it’s cool. It wasn’t until he got his car and started acting like a trickster that he began getting popular in school.

I wish to God I never bought him the damn car. Not that he doesn’t deserve it. He does, with his grades he can go to college just about anywhere. I promised him I’d get him the car and I did. We both held up our end of the bargains. I know he probably is letting out alot of steam. He worked hard all those years to get where he is but, it’s no excuse for driving like a lunatic.

(phone rings)

Hello? Will? Will? What’s wrong? What? You crashed the car?! Are you alright??!! Is anyone hurt?! You see, I told you not to drive around like an asshole and look what you did? Where are you? What? WHAT??

(hangs up the phone in anger)

He just played a joke on me. He just acted like he was in a car accident…how could…

(in tears)

He just gave me the scare of my life, God…

(phone rings)

Don’t answer. Don’t answer it. Wait ’till he gets home. Just wait. I’m gonna beat his ass senseless. Just wait. This is what he does to me? That’s funny? That isn’t funny? That’s horrible. Horrible!

I’ll fix his ass good. Now I’m taking away his keys and then we’ll see how much of a hot shot he is walking around again. I’m the mother and that makes me the boss.
