Monologue Description: “Excuses Of Life” is about the pros and cons to life’s decisions.

Character Description: In this monologue, Joe talks to his cousin about his life’s choices.

JOE:

I know where you really went. Do you know where you really went? You don’t even realize it, do you? Now you have to live with the regret for the remainder of your days. You walked. You walked away from what was most passionate in your heart. What made you come to begin with?Maybe there is better opportunity where you will be. I only hope so.

I am so disappointed in you, you have no idea. You cannot make up excuses and blame others for your own actions. Just like I can’t blame those for mine. You could have moved forward and achieved responsibility for your own life.

Maybe you still can, where you are. I only hope so.

You relied on me when you shouldn’t have. It’s not because you got mixed up in shit. If you wanted it bad enough, you could have gotten work ANYWHERE and you could have been your own man.

Maybe you still can, where you are. I only hope so.

Where you gonna go next? Will you face the music? Will you go somewhere else? Will you return? Do you even care anymore?

What excuses of life will you give now? How long will you last there?

I’ve always said to rely on YOURSELF. You can’t depend on nobody. The truth of the matter is that you are and always have been your own worst enemy. When is it going to change?
