Monologue Description: “Older Men” is about a mother and father’s struggle in raising a fiesty daughter.

Character Description: In this monologue, Deli expresses to her daughter how much she disapproves of her daughter dating much older men.

DELI:

(to her husband)

She just doesn’t understand it, doesn’t get it at all.

(back to her daughter)

What is wrong with you? How many conversations do me and your father have to have with you, in order to make you understand that what you are doing is not appropriate? We do not want our daughter, who is SIXTEEN, to be dating GROWN MEN in their early thirties. It’s just not right. Men that age have only one thing on their minds young lady and a beautiful young woman such as yourself should not be subjected to that.

Listen, it’s perfectly normal to like older men but you aren’t ready for that. You are a teenager and he is a man in his thirties. I found out he was already divorced once and has a child that is three years old! Are you kidding me? You want to involve yourself with that??!! What did I raise? Did I not raise you right? Did I not raise you SMART?

I am disappointed in you! We shouldn’t even be having this conversation at this point. Look at your father! Do you want him to have another heart attack? You can’t keep doing this to us? You are not to see this man ever again. If I find out he comes within five feet of you, I will call the cops.

That is weird and strange and crazy things happen. I’m not going to have my family be on the news. You hear me? Are you listening to me? This is final. If you go against me AGAIN on this, I will have your ass!!!

Stick to boys closer to your own age! Stay away from the weirdos and sick pedophiles!!!
