“Big Picture” (comedy) 1 Minute

Monologue Description: “Big Picture” is about a boyfriend not caring enough to keep his girlfriend in his life.

Character Description: In this monologue, Ellen breaks up with her boyfriend of two years who has no care for the normal things people usually care about in life.  Ellen tells her boyfriend off in front of his best friend who happens to be caught in the crossfire.

ELLEN:

(to herself) 

It’s all he does.  I am dating an absolute loser. 

(to her boyfriend)

I have tried and tried and tried and tried and tried SO MANY times to get you to clean your room.  To get you to wash the dishes.  To vacuum!  To take more frequent showers!  To do the laundry, get a new job, be more assertive, more caring, more ambitious. 

(to her boyfriend’s friend)

God, you would think by now he would get the big picture!

(back to her boyfriend)

Listen Jack, you need to wake up!!!  Obviously you don’t love me or else you wouldn’t sit in your  BEEEEAN BAAAAAAG all day long playing PAC-MAN like a foolish child.  And I mean reeeeeaaal foolish foolish CHILD!

(kicks and throws the bean bag and than accidentally falls to the floor BUT bounces right back up without stopping)

(back to her boyfriend’s friend)

And YOU’RE no help!  You are just as worse as him but WORSER!  That’s not a word but you know what I mean!  You are worse than Silent Bob from that movie we watched fifty CAZILLION TIMES!   Except for whenever you do speak it is absolutely nothing of importance….I’m sorry.

(back to her boyfriend)

We are threw.  Over!  Finito!  Done!  Forget about it!  NNNNEEEE!  No more!  Kaput!  Finished! 

The only way you can have me back is if you give me what I want, if you change.  If you don’t than I don’t, I can’t have you in my life any longer.

(beat)

What good is Pac-Man going to do for you Jack???

(she leaves the room)
