Monologue Description: “Slave To Work” is about being unhappy where you work.
Character Description: In this monologue, Jill complains to her friend Becky about how she hates her job and her boss.
JILL:
I have NO TIME for myself! It’s all I do, WORK! Fed up with it. Why couldn’t I be born rich like a Paris Hilton? Not that I want to be like her but I wouldn’t mind having her money. My boss is the biggest pain in the ass, RUDE, greedy and egotistical! He is such a barg artist. You should hear him talk. My desk is right by his office so every now and again I could tune in and hear him having conversations. He talks about his restaurants, his boats, his private jet. All the materialistic things. I never hear him brag about his two daughters or his wife.
And then, I think he cheats. I think he cheats on his wife because I catch him talking real flirtatiously with my co-workers. All the women just smile and flirt back. He is a good looking guy but he’s married. What’s wrong with people?
I hate my job, I hate my boss because he is such a dick and I need to work somewhere else. I’ve had it where I am.
