“Marbles” (drama) 1 Minute

Monologue Description: “Marbles” is about a near death experience.

Character Description: In this monologue, Antoine talks to his father about what happened earlier in the day. Antoines friend almost died choking on marbles.

ANTOINE:

Well, we were just playing marbles. We, we were just playing. We were trying to see how many marbles we could fit in our mouths. We weren’t trying to do nothing bad. We were just playing and he started coughing so I hit his back to make him feel better but he kept coughing.

(beat)

The marbles started falling out of his mouth and water, spit, kept coming out of his mouth also and I kept hitting his back to help him but he started turning red, so I ran downstairs screaming for mommy cause I knew he was choking.

Mommy came running upstairs and she started giving him the thing that makes you throw up and he did, he started throwing up all over my rug but then he started crying and was trying to talk. I couldn’t understand what he was saying. He was crying alot but he was able to breath.

My mother saved his life.
