Monologue Description: “Muscle Spasm” is about a muscle spasm taking place from laughing so hard.
Character Description: In this monologue, James tells his friend a story that happened the other night in regards to a strange occurrence, due to laughter.
JAMES:
You ever laugh so hard that your cheeks hurt? Well my friend and I caught a laughing attack. A real bad laughing attack the other night. Somehow we started talking about the movie Goodfellas and I started imitating Bobby D when he was kicking that guy in the bar. I had my friend George dying laughing. He was doubled over begging me to stop making him laugh because it hurt. We both had tears streaming down our eyes from laughing so hard. I was on a roll.
Then the weirdest thing happened. You will never believe this but my friend’s face, just one side, his cheek, got stuck. Distorted. What I mean is, his cheek and his eye became all tense and squinty. At first I thought he was kidding around and I was like ”what’s up with your face man?” We were drinking so we were both hammered and we started laughing about his face. I went and grabbed a mirror to show him and we both started cracking up.
But his face wasn’t going back to normal. So we hopped in my car and we shot over to the emergency and it turns out that he had a muscle spasm in his face. Sort of like a cramp! haha. The doctor gave him an injection to relax his face and within a few seconds his face was back to normal.
Weird right? His new name is “Cramps”. HAHAHAHA!!
