Monologue Description: “No Show” is a serio-comedy about a lying friend.
Character Description: In this monologue, Elle complains to her friend about how their mutual friend never does the right thing when plans are made to go out.
ELLE:
No show. There’s a surprise! Shocker! Wow, when she didn’t show up, I almost fell over. Yep. She’s not stand up. Always a disappointment. When will she ever just be true to a situation? It was my birthday, my birthday. It comes only once a year. It is a celebration of my life. My b-day is the most important day for me and she knows this. She has ditched me many times before but not on my special day. That is when I have no use for someone.
She is supposed to be one of my closest friends and this is how she treats me? Her excuses are ridiculous. One time she told me she slipped on ice and bruised her knee. Later that same week we went out clubbing and she was wearing a sexy skirt and apparently the bruise vanished. That’s because there was no bruise. That’s because there was no slip on ice! Another time we were supposed to go to the beach and she tells me that she had a doctors appointment she forgot about. Meanwhile I bumped into her at the mall an hour later because I didn’t want to go to the beach without her. And she acts like she did no wrong!
She is the worst liar. I catch her all the time. Whatever, I am hurt with her. This is the last time. I am not calling her or texting her or myspacing her or anything. When she contacts me, I am going to tell her off. I’ve had it with her games. Oh yeah, I’ve had it.
