“THOSE RAINY NIGHTS” (drama) 2 Minutes

Monologue Description: “THOSE RAINY NIGHTS” is about lost love.

Character Description: In this monologue, Donny, talks to himself as he puffs his cigar, alone in his apartment…listening to the rain outside his window.

DONNY: 

[he gazes out his window as he sits on a stool, smoking his cigar by himself]

[he talks to himself]

You get used to the loneliness…you get to a point where you like being alone.  You somehow, take comfort in it…At first, you know, the first couple of months…it was difficult.  You learn to adjust and part of you simply wants to cave in. 

The hardest nights, are those rainy nights…the nights when I would hold her…we both loved those rainy nights…[he smiles]  We both took comfort—I would hold her…I would wrap my arm around her, place my leg over her tiny thighs and pull her into me…she loved when I would do that..haha…she loved when I would gently take her and pull her into my chest…she loved the comfort and so did I…so did I…we were the perfect fit…it was if our bodies were designed by GOD, to lock into one another…perfection by design…it was beautiful…so, so beautiful…those rainy nights…

Sometimes when it rains late at night…I think about her…I try not to, but at times the loneliness tricks you…just when you think being alone is your friend, it grabs you and shakes you awake from your fantasy, making you realize that she’s not gone, she hasn’t left you…I don’t think she ever will…perhaps part of me doesn’t want her too.

I still love her…I do.  I don’t care how much pride you have or how fucking strong you are…when you really love somebody, when that person is taken away from you…it haunts you…that’s the truth, that’s the truth…

I smoke these cigars since…I used to puff on ‘em once in awhile but now, I’m a regular…keeps me calm in life…I could understand now why she smoked…haha…I wish I understood then what I understand now…but that’s the irony of life, isn’t it? 

Talking to myself like a babbling idiot…[sighs]  Eh, she knows…those rainy nights…
