Last night I went to see Elza Zagreda’s one woman show, CORN BREAD & FETA CHEESE: Growing up FAT and Albanian. It was simply wonderful. Elza does a terrific job at revealing a heartfelt story that not only gives us an emotional journey but also an education of Albanian culture.
The direction of the piece by Vincent Marano was effective and clear, giving Elza more power on stage as she performed.
I enjoyed what Elza did and anyone who is interested in seeing a good show, should check out Elza Zagreda. Her writing flows poetically, combined with moving characters, makes CORN BREAD & FETA CHEESE an experience worth seeing. I would recommend watching the show!

Monologue Description: “SECRET KEY TO LIFE” is a drama about finding inner happiness.
Character Description: In this monologue, Adina talks to her best friend Jim about how she has discovered what she feels is inner peace and inner happiness in her life.
ADINA:
I realized some things today about myself. I realized that since I was a little girl, I had big dreams in my eyes. Thanks to my father, I’ve always envisioned this dream of my life, which I am thankful for but as I’ve gotten older, a new reality has set in for me and I see life not as a dream anymore. At least not in the sense of the fantasy of life but more so in the reality of life. My life as is may not be the dream that I envision but the reality of my existence is a dream in and of itself regardless because I have been blessed with a good life. I really am happy in my life, despite the pains I have suffered because I’ve grown into who I am now…a wiser, more experienced human being. Due to this fact I have found one of the secret keys to my life.
