Monologue Description: “FULL LIFE” is about a young woman who is undecided about her sexual explorations.

Character Description: In this monologue, DANYA talks to her dear friend Jane about a man (Vito) she met and how she finds herself deeply connected and attracted to him, despite the fact that she has a boyfriend (Jed) for a number of years.

DANYA:

I want him. I crave him. I shouldn’t be thinking this way. I shouldn’t. I only know him for a short amount of time. Damn it! I have a man and I do love him, I do, I do love him…it’s just something different, something real when I look into this stranger’s eyes, something I understand, something I want to share in. I don’t know what it is or why it is but it just is. I’m a horrible person,right? But I don’t feel bad. I don’t regret my desire for him…I’m afraid I will regret NOT being with him.

It’s not that Jed isn’t a good man…he is a wonderful man, I have many happy memories with him. I can see myself being with him…I know he would make a terrific husband but it’s me. I want more out of life. I want to taste all that this life has to offer. I don’t want to live in regret when I get old and gray. I want to have explored and to have lived a full life.

Is this wrong of me?! I want to be with Vito…I want him to make love to me…Jane, it’s not just about the sex, it isn’t, I swear. I mean, he’s gorgeous and all but that’s besides the point…there is something else, something genuine when I am with him. A tenderness, a connection—a deep connection between us, like we come from the same place. You ever have that with someone?

(beat)

I never had that with Jed..I don’t have that with Jed.

(beat)

It doesn’t make sense. Why does this have to happen to me? Why?! I didn’t plan on meeting this guy. I’ve been made many offers prior to Vito but it’s different with him. It’s almost as if we are supposed to be together. Maybe it’s why I don’t feel any remorse for kissing him…letting him touch me…so confused…Jane, what should I do? I am so confused…

Monologue Description: “WHOLE WORLD OUT THERE” is a drama about lifting the spirits up of someone you care about.

Character Description: In this monologue, Largo talks to his younger brother about how there is much more to life than his High School years. His younger brother is having a difficult time finding himself and fitting in with the kids in his school. Largo sees this and talks one on one with his brother, in order to give him confidence and assure him that everything will work out.

LARGO:

Let me explain something to you buddy…you see where you are in life right now? You’re in High School, it’s a heirarchy with clicks…who are the geeks, who are the jocks, who are the pot heads…whatever. It’s what works for now. You are going to see that there is a whole world out there, that society is enormous. That this little world you’re stuck in, in High School, is only temporary. It’s a phase…it’s not IT.

Take a drive with me into Manhattan, I’ll show you an entire world where there is no cap on society. In the city, there is individuality. You don’t feel out of place, you don’t have to worry about feeling like you don’t fit in. There is nobody above you or below you…it just is, as it should be.

Go through High School, I know it sucks but it’s not forever and remember that there is much more out there than where you are now. Your doors will begin to open up as soon as you get your first foot into College. That’s where it all begins to change and when you graduate, years from now, you will truly enter not only the world but you will have a strong sense as to who you are and you will always fit in.

Okay? You trust me? I would never steer you wrong bro. You will see that what I’m telling you now is the truth and one day you will look back on your High School years and laugh. All it is, is a part of life that helps you grow along your journey…journey to yourself and from that, I guarantee you will achieve something great, not only for yourself but interestingly enough, for the society in which you are part of. A great contribution lives within you and in time you will make its discovery. I promise you.

When that day comes, you will have arrived.
