Bad Influence

In Bad Influence, ARNA is off to college but before she leaves the house, she has a final word with her mother.

Arna: You were always such a bad influence on me growing up as a kid.  You never made me feel like I could ever achieve anything and even when I did, you never gave a damn.

Well, I made it into college and not just any college and I made it because I’m smart, ambitious and work really hard.  That may not mean much to you but I’m going to be somebody.  I am going to work, pay back my loans and fight for my dreams all without asking you for one single thing.

Why can’t you love me…show me support…encourage me?  (beat) I’ll never understand mom.

(she leaves)
