Can I Tell You A Secret?

In this teen monologue, MILA tells her friend a secret that she has kept from her since they were kids growing up into adulthood.

Mila: Can I tell you a secret?  You may not like the sound of it but it comes from a good place and it’s something that I want to tell you because I’ve kept it to myself for the longest time.

So here it goes…I’ve always been in competition with you.  Not because of envy or jealousy but because you’ve always been the best.  Whatever you do, whether it’s sports, studies, guys…you’ve always been the best at it and I’ve always been average.

It’s because of you that I’ve worked harder than I most probably would have at anything growing up.  You’ve inspired me to be better and try harder with literally everything.

If it weren’t for you being my friend, I don’t think I would have been who I am today.  So, I’m telling you all this because I wish to thank you for being in my life and for giving me the motivation to achieve the things that matter to me.

You’re my best friend and I just wanted to tell you this and say thanks.
