Time To Move On

In Time To Move On, Jiff talks to his younger brother about changing his life & moving on from thinking he’s a tough guy on the streets.

JIFF:  What’s wrong with you, bro?  You can’t be that way!  I told you, it’s not worth it anymore.  You’ve proved your point, I know you’re not a punk, alright?  Stop getting into trouble cause you’re reaching a point now that if you don’t stop, you’re gonna cross the line and if you cross that line you might not be able to come back.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know all about the stories you’ve heard about me.  Who cares?  You wanna be like that?  I was lucky, bro.  You don’t need to be like me or prove yourself.

I think by now there’s nothing left to prove, alright?

I want to see you grow up and be good.  I want you to get your head focused on your future and building a life for yourself.  All this street stuff means nothing.  It does nothing for you in your life.

Start using your brains, not your fists cause sooner or later your luck will run out.  You hear me?

You’re getting too old now for this nonsense.  I don’t want to have to come out here cause Mom calls me in a panic and I gotta find you in some situation.  Bringing me into it is a dangerous thing to do bro cause you’re my blood, you follow?

I’m not proud of the things I did back then when I was a lunatic in my twenties, alright?  I made mistakes and I was lost and I got lucky.

In your case, you have me in your life and I’m telling you now, you need to end your bullshit and get focused on something that matters to you in your life and you need to do it now.

Bro, listen to me, you don’t know, alright?  Trust me…you’re a good kid and you don’t know the kind of grime that’s out there.  There are people out there that go beyond what you can even imagine…it’s who they are, it’s the life they chose and they are all in…is that the life you want?  You wanna find yourself being involved with the wrong people doing bad things, getting into trouble?

It’s not in you, trust me.  That’s not who you are.

Look at me.  You think you could take me right now?  Right now, you think you can take me if we weren’t brothers?

Well, if you can’t take me, what makes you think you can take someone worse than me, who wouldn’t think twice about ending you for real?

I made a choice, bro…believe me, I made a choice and you have no choice cause you’re good, you understand me?

I don’t want to hear about this ever again.  I don’t want to have to worry about you.  I don’t want you to make our mother sick with worry.

Do what’s right for yourself and I’m here for you every step of the way but if you fall back and pull some more dirt, I’m gonna show you a side to me that you’ve never seen before…please, please let’s not have that happen.

I’m talking real talk to you now.  I don’t want to go dark to pull you out of the shadows bro but I will if it means saving you and if you look up to me the way you say you do, hear my voice and do the right thing.

Okay?  Alright, I love ya, come on, let’s go home.
