Can’t Wait Till Tomorrow
In serio-comedy monologue “Can’t Wait Till Tomorrow”, Kyra tells Frank that she values honesty and maturity over good looks and charm.
KYRA: I’m hurt. Hurt from all the things you say you are and all the things you really are. I can’t seem to check all the boxes with you, and that’s alright, but are you honest, Frank? Are all the things you’ve done—all those little things—the actions of an honest man?
You charm your way through unkept promises ’cause you’re pure-faced, handsome, childlike, and very, oh, what’s the word, CONVINCING. Ah! You know how to make me believe in you with all this outside stuff going on, but what’s inside Frank? Mmm? What lives in there? What else do you have up your sleeve for me? What can you hurt me with now?
Sure, you could get me to side with you on just about anything, but I know you now. It’s been long enough. I’ve been watching your every move, waiting for the moment when your mask gets dropped, and I know what I know about what’s inside of ya. You don’t match up. You’re a carnival act and I’ve had enough of the show!
Get out, Frank. Go somewhere else where you can be loved; go on and find it, ’cause I got nothin’ left for ya.
