Call Me When You Wake Up

In drama monologue, “Call Me When You Wake Up” Melody shows up strung out at Kendall and Jason’s apartment in need of help.

MELODY:  I don’t want to be here; I have to be here. There’s nowhere else for me to go. There was, there was this much older man. I think he was a good man, a man who seemed… different, but I wasn’t going to take anymore chances.

We spoke for a while, we met on the bus, and we talked until as far as we reached Savannah. He promised to help take care of things until I was back on my feet… that’s how I got the rest of the cash to make it up here (beat) I left without giving him my information. I want him to remain in my memory as someone caring, someone real, with good intentions, without any ulterior motive, which is usually the case… don’t you think? It got me through my travels, thinking about him, picturing him being honorable… that’s the word I was looking for… honorable.

And Jason, I know you f’in hate my guts and f’k you too ’cause I never liked you anyways; I always knew you were a cheat; I could see right through you. But Kendall, Kendall loves you, and I’m not saying you don’t love her, you’re a traitor, Jason, and always have been. So you can hate me all you like; I’d rather you hate me than love me.
