I’ve told you all there is for you to know.
In the dramatic scene from Bucket of Rain, Wylo leads Forester into the woods and to the location where he will find the magic tunnel.
Wylo and Forester enter.
Wylo is steering the bicycle, and Forester sits on the back.
They approach a stop.
WYLO: There it is.
Wylo and Forester get off the bike and face the tunnel, side by side.
FORESTER: It’s a regular tunnel.
WYLO: What did you expect?
FORESTER: Well, I thought it would be different.
WYLO: Different, how?
FORESTER: Well, I thought it would have lights.
WYLO: Lights?
FORESTER: Neon lights.
WYLO: Why Neon?
FORESTER: It’s off-putting. (beat) Not inviting. Demonic, almost. Yeah, in fact I would say it is most demonic. Otherworldly, and demonic.
Wylo tends to his bicycle.
Forester continues to stare into the tunnel.
How far does it go?
WYLO: Depends.
FORESTER: Depends, on what?
WYLO: Depends on how far you’re willing to go, it seems.
Wylo pulls a sandwich out of a basket.
He begins to eat.
FORESTER: Is there light at the end?
WYLO: Of course there’s f’cking light at the end. You go from this side to the other.
Forester extends his hands and walks closer to the tunnel.
FORESTER: Feels cold.
WYLO: It gets very cold in there.
FORESTER: It does?
WYLO: Temperature drops substantially.
Wylo sits on a nearby rock, continues eating.
Forester takes a flashlight out from his pocket and shines a light into the tunnel.
WYLO: DON’T SHINE THE LIGHT!!!
The tunnel makes a grumbling sound.
Forester drops his flashlight.
Wylo picks it up and tosses it into the distance.
What’s the matter with ya?!
FORESTER: I didn’t –
WYLO: No lights!
FORESTER: But, why –
WYLO: NO f’cking lights! EVER!
FORESTER: I’m sorry –
WYLO: You go in as you are; PLAIN. Walk on through. That’s all! Don’t touch anything. Don’t stop. Just walk till you reach the other side. You understand?
FORESTER: I understand.
Wylo goes back to eating his sandwich.
FORESTER: Is there anything else I should know?
WYLO: No.
FORESTER: You’ve gone two times?
WYLO: That’s right.
FORESTER: Two times?
WYLO: Two.
FORESTER: …Does it hurt?
WYLO: Not really.
FORESTER: Do you feel anything?
WYLO: You feel the same, all the same, but you notice…
FORESTER: …Notice?
WYLO: The pull.
FORESTER: What pull?
WYLO: There’s a pull, as if your breath has been taken by something; an unexplainable force; at your center.
FORESTER: And it changes you?
WYLO: It washes over you.
FORESTER: And what happens?
WYLO: Nothing…and…everything.
FORESTER: Can’t you tell me?
WYLO: I have.
FORESTER: But, why can’t you tell me plainly?
WYLO: I’ve told you all there is for you to know.
FORESTER: All I have to do is walk straight through there, and I’ll know the truth?
