Whereverland
In the drama monologue “Whereverland,” Eva speaks openly to Jean-Pierre about her longing for her father’s connection again.
EVA: My family owns this building…well, my father owns it… he has since passed into the abyss of Whereverland, a place none of us will ever come to understand. (beat) I am his only child, and yet, he no longer recognizes me. He named me executor a year ago when his illness was getting worse. Well…you could say I’m lucky or privileged to own a place like this, but I’d trade it all for his acknowledgment…even a glance my way…
I remember my sorrows would end in his embrace. All of them would fade as I’d fall asleep in his arms. Unlike most men, you would feel his adoration envelop you. And that was without him even trying.
So! You are a painter, a maintenance man, and a cook… For that, you can stay here. If you try a single false move with me, I will wreck you.
I’ve done it before; like I mentioned, I competed in China. It wouldn’t faze me to hurt you if I had to.
