Featured Scene – Midnight Sighs
DOM: Hey there, Elle.
ELLE: Dom, Dom.
DOM: Where’s Kelly?
ELLE: She’s moved to greener pastures.
DOM: Huh?
ELLE: Met the man of her dreams and took off with not much of a word.
DOM: When?
ELLE: Last night.
DOM: But when did she meet the man of her dreams?
ELLE: Last night.
DOM: But I saw her last night.
ELLE: When?
DOM: Last night.
ELLE: A fella by the name of Francisco.
DOM: And what?
ELLE: Eh?
DOM: Who’s Francisco?
ELLE: The fella she went off with.
DOM: But what’s the story?
ELLE: She’s gone, left. What ain’t you gettin’ about the story?
DOM: You don’t just pick up and leave your life without notice.
ELLE: I guess you do, ’cause that’s exactly what she did.
DOM: How?
ELLE: Eh?
DOM: How is that possible?
ELLE: Look Dom, you’re askin’ a lot of questions. Word has it that this fella named Francisco waltzed in here, dressed to the nines. Within a few minutes, she leaves with ’em.
DOM: Just like that?
ELLE: Just like that.
DOM: You were here?
ELLE: When?
DOM: Last night.
ELLE: Last night?
DOM: Yeah! Last f’ckin’ night, Elle.
ELLE: Who the hell do you think you are speaking to me that way?
DOM: I’m sorry, alright, but just please hear what I’m askin’.
ELLE: NO.
DOM: No, what?
ELLE: I wasn’t here last night.
DOM: You weren’t?
ELLE: Boyd was here. He saw the whole thing.
DOM: Boyd?
ELLE: That’s right.
DOM: Boyd is legally blind.
ELLE: I know.
DOM: How could he have seen anything?
ELLE: He was here…last night.
DOM: I don’t wanna know no more.
ELLE: What are you gettin’ so hot under the collar about?
DOM: Because.
ELLE: Eh?
DOM: You make it hard to understand what happened.
ELLE: It’s simple. In comes Francisco –
DOM: I know, waltzing in here doing the tango and he swiped Kelly off her feet, they fall in love and live happily ever after. But how does a stranger, assuming that he’s even a stranger, have the power to do that? To come in here and get a woman like Kelly to leave with him? Was he a complete stranger or not?
ELLE: The way Boyd described it to me was that the guy was suave, soft-spoken, and a first-time customer.
DOM: But did they know each other?
ELLE: No.
DOM: First time they met?
ELLE: That’s what I’ve been sayin’ Dom, that’s what I heard. And from what I know, she’s packed her shit up and left town with ’em. That’s what I’ve been sayin’. You don’t listen.
Enter Boyd with a white mobility cane.
BOYD: Hi ya Dom.
DOM: Hey Boyd.
BOYD: Why the long face?
DOM: How do you do that?
BOYD: What?
DOM: How do you see if you’re legally blind?
BOYD: I don’t see anything, I’m legally blind.
DOM: I understand that, but you talk as if you see.
BOYD: I use my other senses.
DOM: But you just walked in here and said, “Hi Dom” as if you could see me. How did you know I was even here?
BOYD: You have a distinct scent.
DOM: I do?
BOYD: Yeah, and when you said, “Hey Boyd,” you sounded miserable. Was I right? You miserable?
DOM: What happened last night with Kelly?
BOYD: She met the man of her dreams and left.
DOM: Left where?
BOYD: From what I heard, she’s gone to some island in the Caribbean with him.
DOM: When?
BOYD: Last night.
DOM: Last night, yesterday, as in Tuesday?
BOYD: That’s what I just said.
ELLE: Really not a good listener, Dom.
DOM: Okay, Boyd –
BOYD: Yeah?
DOM: Boyd, listen, please –
BOYD: Yeah –
DOM: A guy named Francisco enters the pub –
BOYD: Yeah –
DOM: He talks to Kelly, having never met her before, and she having never met him –
BOYD: Yeah –
DOM: And they f’ck off together to an island in the Caribbean –
BOYD: Last night.
DOM: I know, I know! For crying out loud! Just keep up with me here! This was last night, this is what happened, right?
