White-Tailed Spider
In the dramatic thriller White-Tailed Spider, Littia has stung her latest victim, and gives him his final farewell.
LITTIA: Murder.
Brian laughs hysterically. Littia joins him. They gradually become serious.
I’m glad you think I’m funny. (beat) You are quite the easy target…as you’ve many interests. You enjoy watching the SYFY Channel. I enjoy watching it, too. I would identify myself with the white-tail, as I too am someone who knows just how to kill her prey…using the same methods as the white-tailed spider. Lucky for you we are in a cafe. (She smiles.) What I usually do is lure a victim out of their home, and when they get close enough, I sting.
Brian becomes immobile; only his eyes can move.
Shh, shh, don’t try to move. You have already been stung. It’s impossible. The drug has already taken its promised effect. Understand I have made your life surreal.
You, utterly motionless, and me—ready to devour every part of you.
This is what I do. All this time you couldn’t figure me out? I even left clues. You really are a terrible investigator. What a disgrace. All the while, there you were, the entire time, following what you believed to be a foolish housewife, never once considering—for a single second—that I could ever be what I am.
It is hard to face the truth, to see the darkness in someone that you are blinded by. I want you to believe that I am your light, Brian. In that way, you can die before me now, softly. You can look me in my eyes, the final eyes you’ll ever see.
Littia kisses Brian’s forehead and walks out of the Cafe.
