Untold Story

In the drama monologue from the one-act eplay, “Untold Story” Mr. Owel gives the man who wishes to marry his daughter a difficult time.

MR. OWEL:  Good. So long as that’s understood by you. Now, where was I? ..Everything about you, Beck, is calculated and done with cautiousness, and that is what I least like about you. In this family we take risks. Not to say we aren’t mindful of those risks, but you seem to take caution to unforeseen levels..

As you can see, I raised that girl of mine to be courageous and to pick her suitor wisely. I am not sure if she has complied with my wishes. There is a great frailty to your persona; I can’t quite put it into words, but I find it disturbing. Something about you, Beck, isn’t quite real. You are polite, and that is nice, it is accepted, courtesy is more than welcome here, but I get the feeling from you that it is staged. There is no charm, no raconteur aspects to you. To put it bluntly, you are dull, flat, old before your time.

Your character begs the question if you will ever fit in entirely.
