Featured Monologue – Jerome

SKYLAR: I saw her at the gate, I told her we were friends. Told her all about you and me and some of the things we’ve done. Then, she invited me in. I went with it ’cause I, I wanted to see what it was like to look into the eyes of a mother who cared about her son.

You see, I know my mom’s dead. I’ve always known it. But, I believe that it’s been better for me to imagine she’s still out there, wanting to see me; that she’s sorry for what she’s done, and if I’d be able to forgive her.

I wished to meet your mother, so I could imagine things more accurately, and you know what? It didn’t work, man. Meeting your mother, killed mine. Nothing I could create about her would ever be stronger than flesh and blood.

I’ve been taking you on this wild goose chase ever since, ’cause I’m so fk’n angry at you…for having everything, everything I can never have and turning your back on it. All because you’re selfish, aren’t you? You just want to go through your own life, never giving a damn about anyone who gives a damn about you.
