Featured Monologue – Along With You

TILLY: That’s a good question…I just wanted to see who would notice, and you know somethin’? You’re the only person who noticed.

She laughs.

Maybe the others noticed, but they didn’t care to say anything. No one’s asked me anythin’. I gave them hints, sometimes I’d search for somethin’ inside my luggage, and I’d look up to see if anyone was watchin’, but everyone kept carryin’ on as if they hadn’t noticed.

I mean, I did dress up, like going away sort of dress up, I think. I mean, there’s a certain kind of clothing one wears when leaving town, right? I imagine so, I mean, this is the best I got on. Nobody knows I’m leaving, but I am.

She smiles faintly.

Well, I said all my goodbyes. Rachel, Ronnie, Tina, Todd, Cameron, Cara, Philip and Paul..I group people together by the first letter of their name. It’s how I remember names and faces and, and, and um, there’s really no one else I know whose name begins with the letter G. So, I can’t group you with anyone. Sorry. I’m sure there’s another G somewhere, I just can’t think of it. You’re gonna have to stand proudly alone. Like me. (she smiles)
