Featured Monologue – In the Murk of Night
EDITH: When I was a young old thing, I always wondered if I could make it. All the other kids would do daring things, while I was always the scaredy cat, avoiding any risks I could.
Until one day, I gained a certain wisdom; it gave me an edge over them, an advantage, but I was bitter. That’s why I am such a curious person, yet as nasty as can be. I spent my life missing out on the chances I should have taken. All that destruction I avoided in order to fit in and see another day. Another day, the same as the last. And what for, Joaquin?
I’ve wasted my life and any time I’ve ever had on raising you to be cold, rotten, and careless… such as you’ve turned out. I jumped, before I could die; just once, I jumped, and I made it. Didn’t I? Didn’t I take the plunge and live to tell the tale?
