Featured Monologue – Muddy Feathers
LENA: All I’m sayin’ is that I want to see you with someone who is decent. Who’s caring and has a good mind, makes an honest wage – someone you can feel safe with. It’s no different than what any other mother wants for their daughter. I only want what’s right for you, and if I think something is a bit odd, I have to tell ya, because I wish to keep you away from harm, alright? I think this Arthur geezer is ODD wanting to draw strangers in the nude.
I’ve never heard of such a thing as that. I mean, that’s the kind of thing you do in art class; you don’t go ’round asking people if you can paint ’em naked. It’s quite unnerving. If he made drawings of people with their clothes on or of animals or something, I would think — well, I mean, he doesn’t even have a job, does he? It isn’t something that will get very far, and you can’t continue to live life without purpose. “Life will be aimless without an aim.” That’s what my mother always used to say. I know he’s a distraction; he might be attractive to you, but you’ve got to put yourself first, Jamie. That’s what I think, if you want my honest advice.
